FOQL, aka TJ Głupiec
FOQL is the stage name of Justyna Banaszczyk, an electronic music producer from Łódź, who also performs as a DJ under the name TJ Głupiec, creating intriguing sound collages with turntables and a 4-track tape recorder. Her compositions and DJ sets contain echoes of electronic dance music from the 1990s, as well as industrial and ambient music. Her main goal is constant experimentation in the search for rhythms and sounds. She also co-runs Pointless Geometry, a cassette label for experimental music with an international reputation.
Janusz Jurga
Specialising in a genre called ambient forest techno, Janusz Jurga incorporates into his work influences from industrial, heavy drone and 'forest ambient' music. His sets are hypnotic, dark and disturbing, often anchored by a pulsating techno beat.
He became known to audiences primarily for his critically acclaimed albums such as Duchy Rogowca, Hypnowald and IST, and he is a co-founder of both Opus Elefantum Collective, an independent music label, and also the band Vysoké Čelo. His live performance at the Silent Movie Festival will showcase all his own music.
Jakub Lemiszewski
Better known for his work with post-punk groups such as Promyki, Willa Kosmos and Złota Jesień, this Poznań-based musician will present his electronic side here. His sets are marked by an eclectic set of inspirations and driving beats, drawing on genres such as drum and bass, footwork, ambient music, sound collages, and shoegaze.
daisy cutter
Antonina Ulatowska, known as daisy cutter, is a DJ, pianist and art historian. She is a resident DJ at the Jasna 1 club in Warsaw and part of the Gravity Network, a collaborative project among European electronic music venues. She co-founded the FLAUTA collective, which organises benefit events for refugees, and Radio Kapitał – a community radio station. She is also a co-founder and coordinator of the Radio Academy, a sound-focused urban school financed from the budget of the City of Warsaw.
Bartosz Kruczyński
This Warsaw-based producer and DJ moves easily between several genres of electronic music. His ambient music blends dense, synthesised layers with trance-inducing repetition and elements straight out of club chill-out rooms. His club-oriented work (under the name Earth Trax) has been described as "bittersweet moments on the dancefloor" by Resident Advisor, the most important website on that genre of music, and his records are released by notable labels such as Phonica Records (London's largest club music retailer), Balmat (headed by legendary critic Philip Sherburne) and Emotional Response. He also crafts sample-based music (with a nod to the cut & paste scene) under the pseudonym Pejzaż.
